Scent of the Summer

Scents, like music, bring up different memories and make me nostalgic for the past. Whenever I hear songs from Taylor Swift's second record, I'm instantly reminded of the memories made with my girlfriends in college. There's a certain scent that reminds me of my mom, and that scent is always instantly soothing.

I don't necessarily have one signature scent since I choose my perfume depending on my mood or the event. For sunny spring days, I usually go with Moschino Cheap and Chic - I Love Love, which is citrusy and makes me feel carefree. It's usually my go-to scent, and I've been wearing it since 2008. I Love Love closely resembles Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, which isn't as sweet or citrus-y as I Love Love. When I'm feeling conservative and ultra-feminine, I usually reach for Nanette Lepore's signature perfume (now discontinued, but can be found at stores like Loehmann's and Marshalls). I first received a bottle as a birthday gift in 2010, and since then, I've ordered at least a few more to make sure I always have some on hand. Last summer, I added Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche to my rotation. This is definitely the most sophisticated perfume I own right now, and I usually save it for special occasions.

This summer's scent is Kate Spade Live Colorfully
  • top notes: mandarin, pink water lily and star anise
  • heart: tiare flower, golden gardenia and coconut water
  • back notes: sheer amber, musk and tahitian vanilla

I got a sample of this and fell in love. This one has such a bright, refreshing, and sweet tone to it. Definitely for the girl who wants brighten (er, color?) her world. I'm looking forward to the memories I'll make while wearing it.
